They really have been brilliant, the police too actually.

The police may be there as a security deterrent with their assault rifles and police horses but they are spending the majority of the time with a smile on their face posing for photographs and generally making the place a nice place to be.

The purple people are everywhere, smiling, assisting, cheering, druming up excitment. They seriously rock.

I've never been anywhere as happy and friendly as the olympic park. It's a real whole world love in, with strangers of different nationalitys sitting around the picnic tables excitedly sharing their stories of the things they have seen. my inital thought that not having enough picnic tables was a bad thing but it was quite the opposite as it brought people together, we had great chats with swedes, kiwis and fellow brits.

We had our face painted and must have been asked at least 20 times if people could take our photo or be in a photo with us.
