Here's some more of what appears likely to be the start of some aggressive price cuts by LG on its OLED sets, as production finally gets into full swing in South Korea.

In this case, it's the 55EC9300, reduced in America between June 28 to July 4 from a retail price of $3500 to just $2299, or £1463 in our money.

    http://www.dealerscope.com/article/lg-drops-oled-tv-prices-july-4/

I reckon the downward trajectory of OLED pricing is likely to continue at pace, and would be interested in seeing others help chart the falls.

That set is currently £1,800 at Currys.

That link only shows a price drop "...for the fourth of July weekend. Between June 28 and July 4..." so it doesn't look permanent, just a quick sale.

I'd be very interested in a price drop for the 960V, which is currently £3,800.

Any price south of £3k and I'll start to get itchy.

I stated very clearly that this was for a set period. However, precipitous price drops almost always begin with cuts announced for a set period.

We've seen it before; this window establishes a new baseline for prices and encourages a rush of buyers, but companies then quickly return to that lower RRP or even drop it further not long after the window has closed.

And while we've been very lucky in the UK with our pricing for these products (normally having to pay a major premium), what this cut in US pricing represents is the acceleration of a global downward trajectory. If the price in Timbuktu for a 930V was the equivalent of £9000, and fell to £5000, I'd be hailing that as a very welcome and encouraging development, too.

Of course, any price reduction anywhere is welcome.

Hopefully by November we'll have something more concrete in the UK.

By the way, as stated in the first post, the new limited period £2299 in the United States is the recommended retail price, not the price shoppers pay.

On the back of this price drop, the cost at Micro Center has now fallen to $1699, which before state taxes translates to £1085...

Wow. I know they are just making way for the EG920 but that's a real low price point.
Looks like the 920 could be cheaper than we thought.

The US DTV market is a lot simpler than the European so easier for them to cover a large population I suppose.

My point being that just because there were price cuts in the US does not necessarily mean we will see that translate to over here in the UK

Not really. It's only available at one store (Mediamarkt) for 6.669. Well, I guess 6.000 should be easily possible if you talk with the sales person. Still, too expensive IMO, considering the local 5.000 Euro deal a couple of weeks ago.

I am surprised it is holding up and in many cases is still more expensive than the EG960. Here in the UK, Costco apparently have it at £4800.00 and Cherrywood AV have it for £5k. Those are the lowest prices of which I am aware to date.

Looks like one store on the marketplace actually...Video & Audio Center out of Santa Monica (a boutique shop like Value Electronics in NY who tend to get first dibs at high-end stock). Amazon proper, ABT, Walt's, and Adorama are all holding steady @ $9k. Hopefully, they will soon follow suit.

Looks like they did, but now the 65 flat version is pre-selling for $1000 more instead on ABT, wonder if that will drop at launch.

Hope so because the spiel from LG all along has been the curve is the premium version. Maybe the manufacturing difficulties and the growing demand is changing that for which they have no one to blame but themselves on the latter point.

If LG can sell all they can make in Europe there is no incentive to drop prices.

Oh, are we an exclusively UK forum?

We have members in Norway, Germany and many other continental countries, so European, perhaps? Or how about Vinnie and our other US brethren?

I thought it'd be pretty obvious that price drops anywhere in the world might be of interest to someone on these forums, and also serve as an indicator of what we might expect in our own home territories.

I won't buy a TV if its selling much cheaper abroad, I don't want to feel I'm overpaying. e.g. like with the JS9500. It might encourage companies to behave more fairly if UK review sites highlighted price discrepancies between markets in their reviews.
