Old Thompson Box Squealing

Hi Guys

Our Multiroom box is an old Standard Sky box made by Thompson, its had a problem when its re booted for quite some time so now its time to fix it, I hope.

The problem is that if it needs to be re booted it gives out a very load squealing noise, its fine if left for five minutes to cool down but not if just re booted and still warm.

I understand that this is a common problem and is down to some of the capacitors in the power supply.

Has anyone got a list of which caps need changing to fix this.

Thanks for any help

Paul

Thanks for the info.

Not had any letter from Sky yet.

Does it apply to all old sky boxes or only the ones with built in Hard Drives.

My one is just the standard box with no Hard drive built in.

Thanks

Paul

You've lost me there, I didn't know Sky supplied Thomson boxes without a HD - I am sure someone will be able to confirm or otherwise.

You are paying the multiroom subscription aren't you?

I haven't heard of a Thomson machine without a hard drive.
Paul: Use the e-mail form at MySky to ask for the replacement machine.
