    Hello all.

I have an old Tannoy TFX sub that I was hoping to bring out of retirement for a secondary cinema set up.

Problem is, upon plugging in, there's no sound not even a low hum.

The red light comes on in 'off and Auto' position, but switching to On there's no green light.

I've tried it with 2 av amps, changed the internal fuse with no joy.

And ideas I could try before I have to shell out for a replacement?

Sounds like you have tried everything. Unless you know any electrician i doubt there is not much to do, as it has some serious amp related problem. It has served you for many years, some people aren`t that lucky with these cheap subwoofers. Fixing that would cost over 100£ and that is not wise as you can get new much better one for 200£ home delivered!
So i would look in to new one and the best part is you get an upgrade how your total system sounds when you get something better sounding / performing!

Get BK sub with 2year warranty and great customer service / parts availability! This will bring new life in to your satellite system for sure! Upgrade in performance and build quality is from another planet. I would also add wife friendly looks. From experience i can say, money is well spent here!

    Thanks for the reply.

Yep, I feared as much to be honest.

I have a BK XLS200DF in my primary set up and I agree they are a lovely sub.

Funds dictate, however, that I won't be replacing the tannoy with another BK anytime soon so I better get saving!

Probably worth unplugging from the mains and taking the plate amp off just to check if there are any loose/disconnected wires or blown components
