    Hi
First I'm new here so :hiya:

I currently have a sony rx99 all in one system. It is surround but not 5.1 just puts audio out to front and back.

Want I would like to do is get a AV reciever with 5.1 decoder so I can plug it into , My PC, DVD player and freeview box.

What I'm hoping to do is use the front speakers from my current hifi and the speakers from my Dads hifi.

    Here comes my problem.
My Dads speakers are 90watts and 4 ohms
My speakers are about 100watts and are 8ohms

I can only really afford something from richer sounds at the cheaper end of the market.
I'm confused about if I can use the different speakers as they are different ohms.

Yeah I'm new to all this hifi stuff

    Thanks

I think you might have trouble mixing 4 ohms and 8 ohms, i think sony amps have a switch to designate either/or not both.
    not positive though!

    thanks for your reply.
    Anyone else have any knowledge.

Is it better to have speakers with higher or lower ohms if the wattage is about the same?
