Old Rotel or newer players?

I have a Rotel 965BX Cd player, however, the drawer is playing up and a button has collapsed but it still works and sounds fine. I also have a Pioneer 656 DVD for SACD/DVD A. I have seen an unused Rotel 965BX on Ebay which is very tempting, however, has technology moved on since this player as it was superb and still sounds so. My friends Cyrus does not sound that much better, just different.
So should I go for thr New/old Rotel or as is another thought sell my Pioneer and move the Rptel on and look at the Arcam DV 139 or the like.

Any advice please.
