I am putting together a 5.1 system. I already have some Kef Cresta 2s that I could use and I've managed to track down a Kef Cresta C in cherry that I could buy.

As I am not a HiFi expert I would like to check one thing before I commit.

My Kefs are an oldish design (Cresta 2 and Cresta C) although I know that they were well regarded in their day. How will they stand up against a new design in my price range. Here are the two options:

(Option 1) Kef Cresta 2 (Fronts) and Kef Cresta C (Centre)

(Option 2) Mission m31i (Fronts) and Mission m3c2i (Centre)

Which would you go for or is there not much in it?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Please help - I need to make a decision one way or the other real soon.

    For me:

    (i) The Kefs are much cheaper because I already own them.

    (ii) The Missions look nicer.

What I don't know is whether one would sound better than the other or whether they are pretty much equal.

    Any ideas ?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

What are you going to do about rears?
If you already have the cresta's, I would personally just add the cresta centre and perhaps spend the spare cash on amplification etc,

For the rears I was going to use some Mission m30i's or possibly Gale 3060 Bipoles (but I don't really know much about bipoles - subject of another of my posts).

I could possibly get some Cresta 1's but they are a bit two big as they need to be wall mounted near the ceiling - the m30i's are about as big as I would want to go.

That's my gut feeling. On paper the Kefs and the Missions appear about equal and going the Kef route would free up £150 to be spent elsewhere.

    Cheers,

    Nigel
