    Hi,
Hate to bore everyone with this old one, but.....
I've posted a wanted in the classifieds for a processor (budget £1000-£1500), perhaps an Arcam, Primare or even a Rotel.

So far, I've been offered the option of older, "high end" Lex. MC-1, or more up to date mainstream Rotels (1068, 1098).
Would anyone like to comment on the merits of the products?

    Regards Adrian

Yeah, the AVP700 comes out in Summer 2005, the USa price if $2200, wonder what price it'll be here?

Spec looks good, component, HDMI, balanced connections, video up conversation etc.

    I'll answer differently.

Buy new / newish and get brand new technology capable of most things, with less compentent circuitry.

Buy older stuff, get less capability with standards - say only 5.1 compatible - but a great sound.

Buy older stuff, get less capability but from a company which has easy access to upgrades to internal circuitry / software - get it done and have a peach bit of kit which will look dated.

No names mentioned - your choice.....

    Hope this helps!

I've seen and heard Arcam's new processor at the Bristol show.
I believe that, at that time, it was the only working example in existence
Yes, it sounded great but it's right at the top of my budget even if it comes in at £1500 .The Arcam Rep.said that he envisaged the pre and power selling at around £3000 for both though the cost of the processor on it's own may be considerably greater than half this sum...

Also may be months before i could get my hands on one, and my present machine is recently deceased.

    Regards Adrian

If its going to be around the £2k mark, then i think, you may as well, save a bit longer and go for the AV8.
