Has anyone seen this? I haven't seen any of this guy's other films (JSA or Sympathy for Mr Vengeance), so I am not sure what to expect. Seems to be fairly violent. I am not into all those stylised violence films, but was thinking of giving this a go as it is getting so much attention.

    Anyone have anything on it?

Oldboy was raved about at Cannes this year by QT. It is also being shown at the Frightfest Festival in August at the Prince Charles Cinema in London.

For £10 odd on cdwow why not take a chance? I spend more than that a month on the wrong lottery tickets.

As you dont seem to be getting many replies,

I watched Oldboy a couple of months ago and have to say that i thoroughly enjoyed it, i'm not particularly into violent films, which are violent purely for the sake of it (ala Ichi etc..). Its an interesting story that keep me interested to the end, but strangely i cant seem to remember a great deal about it now, to me the film seem more about how mans obsession with revenge, left them with very little else once revenge had been satisfied.

Definately worth a tenner of anyones money

Thanks lads. Might aswell go for it. Its just that I have been taking chances on practically anything that appears in CDWOW's bargains and its costing me a fortune :) . So thought I might aswell check this out before jumping in!

It's a great film. I loved it. Try to stay away from any spoilers before you watch it though.

Got this in the post yesterday. Haven't watched it yet, but the sound format looks strange. There's a DTS track and a DD2.0 track, but no DD5.1! Strange!!

It's an awesome film. I recently bought JSA by the same director from cd-wow. That was a cool film too. Along with Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, Chan-Wook Park has made three great films.

Well I liked it a lot. May not be to everyone's taste. This is far from a feel good movie! cd-wow are selling it for £7.99. I have the korean 2-disc, the one on cd-wow is a chinese single disc version. I'm pretty sure the extras weren't subtitled on mine, so if it's just the film you're after it's got to be worth a risk.

I do have a particular fondness for "darker" films, not too sure whether thats a worry or not.

Join the club!!! You'll have no problems then. Well worth checking out. I think his films get better as they go on. JSA was very good. Mr Vengeance is better than that, and Oldboy is fantastic. It's surely only a matter of time til he makes a poor one. Saying that, apparently he is making a vengeance trilogy, of which the final part has yet to be made. So here's hoping for another corker!!!
