Old 8mm camcorder to tv - no sound

Hi all,

I have an old cannon uc-v100 8mm camcorder that im trying to operate so i can view my old videos.

Ive lost the cables so tried connecting a 3.5mm to 3 x rca cable i had lying around.

Like this...

If i connect the colours as they should to the tv i get nothing. For some reasonif i connect the red cable to the red female in the attachment above and then connect this to the tv video yellow input, i get video but no sound (even with the other cables connected as well).

The manual says i need a stv-250 stereo video cable...is this below any different to a generic cable above?

Im at a loss...

Yes, the chances are the other cable is wired differently, as there was never really a standard. The new cable should do the job.
