    I believe there is one for the international space station.

    I remember the astronauts asking for films such as Alien and Event Horizon. I wouldn't want to watch those while orbiting the Earth.

    There is (and will only be) 8 regions for dvd. This is due to the hardware. There are 3 lines used, each will be 1 or 0.

    2 x 2 x 2 = 8

    Which disc?

    I checked 'Ice age' which says R10 in the *new* bargains listing. When you click on it, it says R2/R4

    I think Region 0 is for the International Space Station. I also think someone might be laughing their socks off after starting a rumour like that.

    It's probably region 2 (in binary)!

    If that is correct then if I remember my binary correctly :

    000 = region 0
    001 = region 1
    010 = region 2
    011 = region 3
    100 = region 4
    101 = region 5
    110 = region 6
    111 = region 7

    8 different regions numbered 0 to 7.

    I'm somewhat confused that there are discs around which are multiple regions - region 2 and 4, for example. If the above 3 bit binary code is used to determine region number then how can multiple regions work?
    There is more to this than meets the eye...:eek:

    Your binary code's right Stuart, and your point about multiple regions is interesting because if they were using 6 bits to decide the region they could have 64 regions!

    There can probably be as many instances of the binary code on the disc as required.

    I have seen titles labelled as R23456 (but not 1).
