Looking at all 3 of these at the moment for my Dad .

Have a sky+ HD box but NOT the HD package so require one with a HD freeview if possible and it looking good on standard signal is a must

Have a budget of £400 not wanting to go any bigger that 42" and was looking at a LCD .

The SAMSUNG LCD TV LE40C650L1K 40" seems to be a pretty good TV but could do with some advice please about this .

I own a Pioneer 5090 and it's been a while since I've looked around at TV's.

Thanks.

I have the 46C650 - good TV for the money I paid, but a Panasonic plasma would have better viewing angles, such as a 42U30 or S30 (but over budget). Mine also has backlight bleed on one side (maybe down to the bigger screen)

C650 is a 2010 model, so you may struggle to find one new now - there's a review of one of the sizes in the review section (Comet had their 40C652 variant still not too long ago but as they are having *erm* financial difficulties I would be wary)

I wouldn't personally go for the C5800, a basic 50hz 2010 edgelit LED-LCD, the C6530 is the 100hz higher specced model. All LCDs/LED-LCDs can have clouding issues

All of these are 18 months old now (this year it's the D series), the ones you have seen are presumably all second hand or refurbed/graded, personally I'd only buy a new TV but that's me :)
