i love trueHD but i also love having the the rear back surrounds:( and as i cant find a way of enabling any matrixing via the ext.in (denon 2805) i thought i would try spiltting the surround left+right via a phono splitter and lo and behold it sounds great just gives it a more 360 feel:thumbsup: has anyone else tried it? or has anyone figured how to process it to the rears? i already have my flameproof suit on as i know the philes wont be happy with this idea:devil:

    Isn't this what PL2x does? 5.1 to 7.1.

    Or logic 7 ;)

though on the lexicons for a analog 5.1 input it will if it sees 7 speakers duplicate the rears to the centre rear speakerrs by default.

Then what you are suggesting is a good compromise, but make sure you check the levels again. It is something I have tried in the past bth I do prefer the straight 5.1 if there is not any good 'post processing'.

No you need a switch here, some devices will effect the signal even when they are off.

ok u got me there! i guess u learned alot plugging in those synthesisers?;) or is that another mr.n rhodes? :hiya: sad thing is if i hear the name nic rhodes i know wthink of the avforums not my childhood band!

gotta also note that for people new to hd-dvd its not just trueHD that sounds better through the analog or hdmi "ins" as it is uncompressed sound compared to the opt/coax route

Hiya PJ, your post could be 'the light at the end of the tunnel' for me as i'm awaiting delivery of my HD A1 but am facing the same problem regarding my 7.1 speaker set up.

My naim AV2 accomodates 7.1 but the dvd player only has the 5.1 so buying to rca splitter and plugging them into RL,RR could solve the problem.

Can i ask, have you noticed and reduce in quality on the rears at all? I'm guessing that as it's the rears it should not be such degrade in quality as say the front speakers as they are simply there for effects??
