probably be early Jan. I dont want to do anything till i see a demo of the Sanyo z2 and AE500 together before i buy. i was told by Ivojo that the Panasonic is generaly turns out better, but is a little more expensive. I want a projector to last, so a little extra cash for the Panasonic aint a problem.

Judging by the internet prices in Germany, the AE500 will be cheaper than the Z2...

Sanyo will probably cut the price of the Z2 in order to compete.....

Which is good news all around (especially for those who missed out on the bargain pre-order price of the Z2).

well, id like to know either way...if it is only a matter of weeks away, with being released in Jan, then thats not too bad. But if im gonna have to wait till March, then i might splash out on a 40 gig ipod for the wait.

I would seriousley doubt Panasonic themselves know what is coming into them and when, if it were just a few weeks away one would expect them to be ringing the dealers and grabbing orders frantically - if there one thing Japanese companies don't like it is holding stock! The Panasonic dealer website lists the model with a trade price of £9,999.99, indicating they haven't made a decision on price. If you were to be incredibly cynical you might argue that the release date depends on when the 300's run out!

benji_m, do you know when you will be getting the AE500 in?
I phoned Panasonic a few days back, the person i was speaking to didn't even know Panasonic had made a 500 series model! He said ther trade show wasn't till March, and that there was no AE500 penciled in for that, so it had to be at a later date.

Does anyone know if it will be coming out in Jan over here?
Seems that it comes out this week in the states.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

    Dan,

I suppose the honest answer is that I don't have a clue! Sometimes Panasonic don't know what is coming in to them next week never mind any time after that! I suppose the first indication would be that we will get a "so how many do you want" call, the current indication is that maybe Febuary/March might be a good time for them to release this from a Pansonic point of view and they very rarely act in anyone elses interest!

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Just out of interest...........

By any chance, will the AE500 be built in the same case with the same layout as the AE200 ?

Thats cool, but my only issue is stuff like the waranty. If it broke down and i got it from the UK, i could easily send it back to Panasonic or the company i got it from. I think the extra couple of hundred quid is worth paying for peace of mind.

That could be the longest 3 weeks ever.

Especially if it doesn't arrive. :(

Yea, plus if it goes down, you could have atleast a month of waiting after you send it back before you get it fixed.
