My m8 just bought a 50 inch Samsung and he is going bankrupt so has to get rid He has offered me it for £1700. Should I buy? I know it may sound a stupid question as I know they are worth a few quid more but is the quality such that I am getting a great deal or is it just a good deal or even not worth the bother. Its brand spankin new.

Hard to recommend - or have an opinion - on a model I haven't seen, but if it is the current model (PS50P4H), then it looks like a great deal.

Only you can say if you are happy with the quality though, so ideally you should take a look at it first.

Bear in mind that at that sort of price, you can justify adding a high quality scaler to it - with the DVI connection result should be impressive.

    Something like this http://www.av-sales.com/html/iscan_hd.html.

Yes, it's expensive, but with the cost of the plasma, the overall package is still cheap for a 50" setup.

But make sure you check which model of screen it is first. If it's not the current one, it might not be such a good idea.

alot of german 50" samsung plasmas were being offered around a few months ago for £1800 ish to th trade..... never materialised..... Check it is a UK model and the age (if its under 6 months from original invoice you can extend warranty on it....TADL) but adding an Iscan HD or Lumagen (£800 ish) to tis would get you a very nice package for the price of an HD 42" panel (50" are all HD) and be ready for Sky HD......

No, but he didn't say it was a DLP (or anything else) either. All that was said was "50 inch Samsung" - as it is in the plasma forum, what else are we going to think he is talking about? Korea's greatest porn star?
