    does anyone know if the sky+box will be obsolete when sky hi definition comes in next year as i am thinking of upgrading?

    Yeah it will be if you want to get HD becaue you will need a new box.

    The definition of obsolete is that something is useless. Sky+ boxes will carry on working for years to come. If you want HD you will need a HD capable box.

    Worth having a good long read in the High Def forum on this site.

    It won't be cheap and most people won't want or need it but for those that are into home cinema/av hardware it's the promised land:)
