From Friday 27th April, Blockbuster Stores are offering Oblivion (PS3) for £9.99 when you trade in any, yes any PS3 game. So any duff games you have (Genji :( ), drop them off.

Unannounced in stores as yet, but store manager confirmed today.

Also mentioned that lots of local stores will become game superstores instead of general DVD rental outlets. Since they seperated from Gamestation, they have been given license to expand there gaming market.

    Cheers

I think your title is pretty misleading and needs to be changed. You're not actually getting it for £9.99 as there is also the matter of the cost of the game you're trading in.

I got £26 store credit for NHL 2K7 so that would be oblivion for £35.99.

Not a great price in actual fact.

Personally I wasn't moaning just suggesting the title of the thread be changed as it is misleading. It's not as if you can buy Oblivion for £9.99 outright.

IMHO trade in deals are never a good deal especially trading one PS3 game for another and paying money on top considering how much the games cost.

I very much doubt it. The bar codes would be different for a start not to mention the rating.

How about 360 games? ;) Is it any next-gen game, or just PS3 ones?

I'm going to pop down to my local blockbuster right now to see if this is true!

I'll keep you posted! I hope it is as i'm going to get rid of my £17 copy of NHL 2k7.

I'll also check on imported games for all you people that want to know!

OK - you can trade ANY UK PS3 game and then you only have to pay £9.99 difference.

Import games aren't allowed to be traded.

The offer starts on Friday and runs up until June 3rd.

It is tempting to buy a copy of NBA for £18 from play and trade that in and then you can get a brand new game, that you will plat for £28!

I may do this, by buying a used Pal PS3 game, and then trading it in.

    Hummm...
    Just ordered NBA 2K7 from Play.com £17.99
Friday next week will walk it down to Blockbuster and trade it + £9.99 for Oblivion - £27.98 total cost. (Assuming that I don't enjoy NBA so much in the mean time, that I decide to keep it. But I can always order another copy). That's as cheap as any import. Good deal thanks!:smashin:

P.S. Have checked my local Blockbuster, and indeed the deal is as advertised, 'cept only from 4th May onwards.
Their currect deal is £30 trade in for any PS3 game (presume UK region only) and (I think) they offer cash alternative! Seems some profit could be made, if I was that mercenary.

Just to confirm that the trade-in-a-game-that-you-paid-less-than-the-trade-in-value-for works OK.

I swapped NHL 2K7 (£18 from Play.com) this morning + £9.99 for Oblivion at Blockbusters in Hammersmith. I kept expecting to be told "sorry - we're not taking this or NBA 2K7 in exchange", but no sirens went off or anything like that.

Haven't played the game much yet so far, but from reading the other thread on this game, it sounds like there should be plenty to keep me busy for several months

I traded in Rfom on Sunday in our local Blockbuster and the guy forgot to charge me the tenner so it was a straight swap :D

Also he took back a US DVD, couldn't scan it so he entered the barcode manually..

Anyway just thought I'd say that so far I'm very impressed with the PS3 version of Oblivion, looks very nice, and loads so much quicker :)

Not really, considering that you will get the PAL copy and it will be cheaper and you can trade-it in at a later date. You cannot trade in US copies so this is the best method by far.

Why do you NEED a PAL copy?

The game is massive and I'm very sure it's one of those games most ppl will keep for the life of the console, having played the PC version the longevity of the game is insane.

Whoever is releasing Spiderman 3 (totally and utterly ridiculous price for the UK version) over here is laughing all the way to the bank with ppl that NEED to buy the PAL version, really don't get it myself. The re-sale/trade argument doesn't really hold with forums such as this with ppl snapping up US/Jap copies of games. Plus not all games shops pull a shutter down on import games....there are at least 2 I know of near me that take them in as trade as the machine is multi region.

Meh, you makes your money you spends how you wish *shrugs*

Is it really a matter of PAL or NTSC anyways? I thought those formats where obsolete with the advent of HD resolutions?

I understand your points and they are valid, but I have had to sell PS3 games at a great loss on this and other forums. The market [-]seems[/-] is very small at the moment and there are so few games available (esp decent ones) that every one seems to own them any way. Looking at the classified threads, the only way people can regain some of the money spent is by trading them in and Game, Gamestation, etc, only accept PAL copies.

It is a shame, but the 360 titles hold their value for longer and at a much higher value than the PS3 games, especially considering how new the PS3 is in the EU!

I had and played Oblivion on the 360 and am doing what mr_vic has done. I just do not know if I can be bothered to replay Oblivion - just too much involved and I have done the majority of it anyway.

I am only getting it as the PS3 has a severe lack of games, both on and off line. If it wasn't for Blu-Ray and the brief glimmer that some thing playable may be on the store each Friday, I would use the PS3 as a door stop. Who ever said Blu-Ray is bad for the PS3 got it wrong! :D
