    Hi,

This is probably a really daft question but what do I actually need to connect an 02 XDA Mini S to some kind of sat nav setup?

    Sat Nav software, clearly!

Bluetooth sat nav receiver as well?

    Some kind of subscription?

    Thanks in advance!

    Tom.

You have summed it up really, the two common ones are TomTom and CoPilot, each of these packages come with a Bluetooth GPS and software, as far as I am aware there are no subscriptions if you don't want them

    No subscription needed.
You buy the software an hardware as a package and it all comes in that lot and you can GPS it around the country for free.
The monthly subcription comes in if you want up to date traffice announcements and re-routing round the traffic. And that also requires an "internet" connection from your phone
