O2 Phones Are They All Unlocked

    As title anyone got an O2 phone that cant be used on another network,everyone I've tried seems ok.

    Just being curious :rolleyes:

    My wife's V3 came unlocked when she first got. She now uses it on Orange.

    Some O2 phones are locked others aren't, tends to depend on the deal it was originally bought on and from whom.

    Easiest way to tell is to try a non-O2 sim in the handset.

    Ive had two o2 phones. a k750 and k800 and they were both unlocked!

    O2 phones are unlocked, unless your buying an O2 exclusive phones ie XDA

    Well i have an O2 N73 which is unlocked ok but still got those bubbles in the background!! anyway to get rid ?

    That's just a bit of O2 branding just flash it with genetic firmware. It might require you to change the product code, which invalids your warranty.

    smokedog,thanks for that but being a bit of a newbie in this malarky how do you do that please,i take it you need the cable from phone to laptop ? and go on from there.

    No problem with warranty not got one but have to get a cable!!

    Is a d900i an O2 exclusive phone then? I have one and it is locked...I've owned two previous O2 mobiles and thay have been unlocked.

    O2 phones are generally unlocked to other UK mobile service providers, however I just sold my K800i to a guy from the Czech Republic on eBay and he claimed that the phone was locked when he tried to put his sim card in.

    Obvious question, but did you check if it was unlocked before you sent ?

    Yeah, I tried Orange, Vodafone and T Mobile sim cards in the phone and it all worked fine! :thumbsup:
