It's not a great card for gaming at all, I'd look at the 8600GT or 8600GTS as a minimum. However, if you're not bothered by DX10 then you'll get more performance per pound with the X1950Pro.

If you are buying a 85gt, get the ddr3 version, ebuyer for £48, great little card depending on cpu will give you around 6k in 3d mark 05. These are the new 73gt ddr3, albeit faster. A good shout on the 1950pro

No 8500/8600 isn't a gaming card, although it'll handle HL2 fine, but forget newer games or older games that require more GPU horsepower.

8600GT can be had from Ebuyer for ~£60, which will giving you gaming possibilities at 1024x768 and 1280x1024 (with lower quality settings). It's not a very good gaming card, unless you live in the 15" world of 1024x768 then it'll serve you find ;).

X1950Pro can be had for £70+ and is a very good card for the money, no DX10 but much faster for gaming than the 8600 range..

8500GT is a web surfing media play back card. Not a gaming card. You need to spend more money for that.

The 85gt ddr3 while no 88gts for £48 is packs quite a punch, clocked it will be slightly slower than a [email protected]

...Which is in turn slower than a 7900, slower than a 7950, slightly slower (maybe, depending on the review) than a 1950 pro.

The OP has asked this question many times....hoping that someone will come along and say it's a fantastic video card. Not gonna happen.
