Numpty question - placement of centre front speaker

Hi,

I have a wall mounted panel at present with a mordant short genie centre front speaker wall mounted directly below.

I'm thinking of replacing panel with new 50" 3d tv which will now be on it's stand on a tv unit.

So numpty question is where do people who have tvs on a stand put there centre front speaker?

If the speaker is small enough not to interfere with the picture (and seeing as it's a genie, it probably is) the favourite is smack in front of the telly, on the tv unit.

It might look a bit crap, but the centre anchors the sound, so should be placed as close to the centre of the telly as possible.

If you can't live with that, it's either above or below the telly.
