    Does this mean that if the DVD player is multiregion and I watch R1 disks on a TV that does not have NTSC playback capability that the DVD player converts the sign to PAL and therefore will get a colour picture on the TV?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Not all dvd players will do the conversion, My Toshiba 220e only otputs NTSC where my daughters pioneer dcs303 and parents pioneer dv350 (both purchased this christmas from homecinemaheaven)will play ntsc as pal60.

    This is a mod that can be done by software with certain players.What player do you have?.

    Regards

    Keith

    I'm looking at the Tosh SD220E on Richer Sounds website and it's there that it states that the conversion and thats why I was wondering if it would do what I said.

    I think I checked this on my MR Tosh 220, and like the owners manual states you need a multi standard tv to watch NTSC dvd's.
    i.e. There's no PAL60 mode. Just PAL/3.58 NTSC.

    I recently bought a panasonic RA 82 and that has the NTSC - PAL converter on it and it works fine on a Region 1 disk I tried. You have to set it up in the options though I think.

    Is there such a thing as a ntsc - pal60 convertor
    that can be connected between your dvd player
    and your tv therefore giving you a colour picture
    on non ntsc capable tv's ?

    I have a Tosh 220 and an old Pana TV;
    have yet to try a R1 disc (will be soon, when my Donny Darko arrives !);
    I seem to remember a comment, along the lines of : use SCART-in on the TV and this will work (?) :confused:
    what if you route signal through an NTSC-capable VCR ? :confused: (assuming no macrovision problems).

    ----------------------------------------------
    convertor @ Maplin £30 - on the high street, or search for NTSC convertor (I've never used one - anyone else ?) - http://www.maplin.co.uk/
