    Help !

I recently went on a surfing holiday and whilst there met up with some american guys with camcorders.

One of them has just sent me his DV tapes to include into a DVD that I am making of the trip but they are in NTSC format !

How can I get the info off them ? Do I have to buy a special player of some sort ? Are there companies that will do it for me ? Help urgently needed and would be sincerely appreciated.

To play an NTSC tape you need an NTSC compatable player. AFAIK UK camcorders are not!
I have looked in the back of the current copy of Computer Video and there are a few companies that do standards conversion, but I don't think it will be cheap.

    Try the following:

    Northern Video www.northernvideo.co.uk 0161 832 1415
    Mediamagic 020 8813 1195
    Pro Magnetics Ltd www.promags.com 0500 888 188
    ITVV Productions www.itvvprod.com 0800 137 423

    Hope these help,
    Mark.

You can use software on your computer to do the actual conversion for you. Canopus Procoder will do that.

It is a high quality MPEG , multi format & PAL/NTSC conversion program.

Your problem still is getting a deck/camera to load from the tapes to your PC. (Perhaps you can find a visiting American to borrow off for the day ?)
