    Hi all,

I took advantage of the recent offer on the DV89 player. I've connected it up to the TV via S-Video (temporary measure), the same as my previous panasonic (£30) job, but I've noticed that when I play NTSC discs, the picture flicks between black and white and colour on the TV.

My old DVD player didn't do this, and it's quite concerning to me.

I found an option in the player menus to only output PAL, which works, but the picture stutters every 2-3 seconds, and it's highly annoying.

Am I doing something wrong here?

    Cheers,

    Paul.

    Paul,
Just to clarify, your old DVD player played NTSC discs no problem?

On my DV27, the 2nd menu has the option "TV system", this has NTSC, PAL or AUTO. I set mine to auto and it works OK. Is this what you have tried?

    Regards
    John

Yes, the old one played NTSC no problems, and the TV and cable haevn't changed.

That menu option is the one that I was talking about - yes. It's set to AUTO and the same thing happens if I select NTSC, so I'm assuiming it's correctly outputting NTSC to the TV.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

    Paul,
In that case it might be an idea to either give your dealer a call or Arcam technical support on 01223 203203, they are excellent.

    Regards
    John

Well, no-one answered that number, so I've plumped for an email instead. We'll see if they can help.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

    Resolved now.

Bizarrely the Sony TV doesn't do Colour Sync on AV3/4 by default (when connected via S-Video) - a quick search on here and a pop into the service menu - voila!

All fixed - thanks for the help everyone.

    Cheers,

    Paul.
