OK probably it is safe for work - but if you are concerned about it then get on with your work instead of footering about in here! ;)

Learning to balance the background exposure with the MT-24EX flash.
Black backgrounds are no longer 'with it' apparently.

ISO400, f/9, 1/25s, 65mm, 2:1 mag.

The detail is great,excellent capture,good colours too,imho.

I'm guessing the subject matter won't be to everyone's taste though.:D

Nice shot sir - and I mean Dave, not the fly.

Nice find Dave, you got nice DOF and the green background looks more natural than black IMO.

I think these are a kind of Robber fly that eat other flies and midges, so one of the good guys.

great shot, lots of detail. Did you focus stack the shot?

Hi, no, this is a single shot.

All my macros are single shot (except for one caterpillar image I took a while ago).

I'm steering clear of focus stacks while I get used to the handling at high magnification and minute working distances.

Once I am able to frame my subjects instantly at 5x mag then I'll start on the focus stacks. They are the shots that get all the ooohs and aaahs. ;)

Very interesting, in a rather disgusting sort of way

Nice nature shot. Personally I would've cropped it so the 'subjects' were central. Might've given the image extra oopmh and focussed on the insects. Too much wasted background to the left for me. I do like the capture though. Try a heavy drop for effect.

Thanks for sharing.

EDIT: Just had a gnarlly thought! 'Team America - World Police' . . "I promise I won't die" . . . !

Great shot! were you directing them as well?

I agree - the background colour gives in a much more natural look.

Does the male fly have one set of legs on his hips? :D

LOL, yep.
The shoot was awkward at first, but the miniature Burt Reynolds moustache helped put him right at ease,
and when I started playing the stratocaster with the wah-wah pedal they just got down to it like naturals. ;)
