Hi all,

Now that my PS3 has failed (http://www.avforums.com/forums/ps3-hardware/1176114-finally-joined-ylod-club.html) im looking at my options to insure my refurb that sony have charged me £131 for!! (there was no budging them after 5 phone calls)

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on who to use, and does anyone know who the insurance policy was with when using continuous play?

Thanks

yeah they seem legit, looking at their website they appear to be the people behind game and argos i will see if i can find some feedback before jumping in to anything, the problem is do i tell them its a refurbished model from sony cause they are bound to ask for the purchase date or do i just tell them its my original that i purchased in march 2007

They're like the affiliate insurer for all electrical Amazon items.

As with all insurance products you need to read the small print in their Key Facts & T&C

"This insurance must have been purchased at the same time as the insured item.
This insurance is only valid if purchased with an item from the Amazon.co.uk website.
This insurance only applies to items purchased as new. There is no cover for items described as ‘used' or ‘second-hand'

Thanks, there goes that idea, anyone else have a third party warranty?

continuios play is gone? what am i paying £4.99 a month for then?

Ironically, we need to hope that possibly something comes of this subscription PSN service in that case. I have CP : 4.99/month so am fine but if the rumoured PSN sub covered continuous insurance while subbing then I might be interested. Just now the rumour was 3 years, which is a nonsense really. I mean when does the 3 years start, etc ? If it was from purchase then I'd already be 1.5 years into that cover.

I bought a fat ps3 just before Christmas and have been trying to find another option for cover. It's a shame they don't even do the regular extra 2 years cover like xbox. I think with that it was £50 and you could buy within a couple of weeks of buying the machine.

Would anyone say it's possible to use the sale of goods act if the machine breaks down within 2 or 3 years? I know there's the whole "reasonable time" thing, but 1 year without any option to extend is rediculous.
