In order to save digital tv for later burning to cd or dvd without data loss seems to require the use of the Hauppauge Nova-t (terrestrial) card.
This card will save the program stream to hard disk which can later be converted to an mpeg2 stream using the program pvastrumental. This seems to work ok.
The resulting files can be successfully burnt to cd (and presumably dvd) without any re-coding steps.
The difficulty comes in editing out parts of the mpeg (adverts etc) in a way which does not require a (time-consuming) re-coding.
Has anyone managed this or have a recipe?
