Notification / sms issue

Okay, so jailbroken phone.

Go into settings, notifications, messages...alert style is always 'none'. I add it to either banners or alerts and when I come out of settings it loses the setting. I have to keep settings backgrounded for it to retain the alert.

I've biteSMS installed.

Anyone know why this quirk is occurring?

Reinstalled bitesms - makes no difference. Anyone know why it would fail to retain the setting?

Also, looking like I was wrong about the 'settings' remaining backgrounded - when it is, and the notification setting is on an alert, no alerts are forthcoming.
