20 hours is just not enough, so I'm wanting to know the best option for adding more storage. I've never used any of the following, except std sky+, so I'm not too sure of the pros and cons, but will put down my assumptions.
I don't HAVE to have long term backup (dvd), but do need more than 20 hours.
Note - my sky+ is SDI modded, so output to anything else, then to video processor, will not be as good as watching direct from sky+

    1) Put larger disk in
pros - no extra boxes, no extra loss of quality, easy to use, records in DD5.1?
cons - reliability issues, still fairly limited space

    2) Use a DVD recorder
pros - unlimited storage, presumably fairly easy to use
cons - lose some quality? An extra box, lose DD5.1

    3) DVD recorder with HD
    - as above, but with editing facility
    - not sure if HD quality is different from DVD

    4) Another HD box with larger disk (Tivo or something)?
pros & cons - I'm not sure yet, will do some searching

    EDIT - forgot to mention:
    5) Link SDI output of Sky+ to SDI capture card in PC
pros - lots of storage space, editing software, can copy to DVD
cons - constant software issues that need keeping in check

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    http://www.hummer.co.uk/

The 120Gb upgrade looks the most common and easy option on a V1 Box.
Look for the sticky on the upgrade as well in the SKY+ Threads.

    Cheers and Good Luck
