hi, i need help on connecting my amp to Plasma and Projector.

on the amp (denon 3802) i've got 2 inputs (1.xbox,2.Dvd) and 1 output to the Plasma. everytime i want to watch a movie on the projector i have to change all the cables around.
is there component splitter available? so the amp can output to the plasma and projector together.

i've seen the ones for consoles but they look really cheap and nasty.

    kind regards

    Mark.

    Hello Mark

Do you need simultaneous playback on the Projector plus Plasma or just an either or set-up.

    Thanks for the reply Joe.

my setup is this. i've got my dvd, xbox, sky all going into the amp. and from the amp to the plasma at present. when i want to watch/play dvd, xbox, sky on the projector, i have to unplug the component cable from the output amp - plasma and put the output amp - projector, its a bit of a pain. what i'm looking for is something that lets me keep it all plugged in and if i want to watch the plasma or projector i don't have to keep unplugging things.

    hope this makes sense.

    regards
    Mark.

    hello mstodge

Understood - there are a few options to consider; possibly the least cost/signal destructive being to 'reverse wire' a Zektor HDS4 YUV switcher.

The HDS4 4:1 Switcher can also be used as a 1:4 Distribution Switcher - so one source can be switched to up to four displays.

You'll retain the YUV sources selection on your AV Receiver - wire the Output of the AV Receiver to the HDS4 and then select 01. (Plasma) or 02. (Projector) on the HDS4 depending on which Display you wish to view.

    See http://www.zektor.com

    Best regards

    thanks for that Joe.
but that is way out of my price range. if i spend any more my Wiff will go bonkers. i thought they had something like a component splitter, you know similar to a scart switcher. where i could plug the projector and plasma together like this: But better quality and in the £40 - £60 range

    Thanks again
    Mark.

1:2 component switch would be great at sensible money, i cant believe there are not any amps that have not got 2 outputs that are not too expensive.

If you do find something let me no as well!! cheers. John

    Hello both

I think you'll find AV Receiver's with 2 x YUV outputs are pretty thin on the ground - the Denon AVC-A1XV is one exception; though at around £4k its maybe not in the price range you had in mind :)

Splitting your YUV output without degrading image quality can be tricky - especially so if you have long cables to the Projector.

Ensure anything you purchase is on Sale or Return as you may get pretty variable results with some of the low cost options.

    Best regards

John's switcher (JS Technology) is 2:1 and not reversible - we may see a 1:2 Distribution amp from John at some point but no news at present.

We sell lots of John's RGB Converters and Switchers and the YUV switcher is good value for money if it ticks all the right boxes in your system.

    Best regards

    Joe
