    Hi Guys

A newbie here on forum so hi......

I have been away for nearly 12 mths working and leased my house out, the tennant got sky plus....

To cut a long story short, i phoned $ky to get reconnected, being really interested in the HD deal. Only to be told there is an account registered to my address already, and so i will have to wait til it ends (12months) on 3rd March !

*** !! Is this really the level of $ky customer service ??? Can they really do this to me, and turn down a subscription ??? g

Wrote a mail to them.... will see what happens..
    Andy thoughts/help appreciated

you could get the tenants to transfer their account to their new address, and so you can take a new account for skyhd straight away?

You must have evidence that you have been out of the country for 12 months, as well as lease agreement with your tenant.

    Send Sky copies...

Ring them up with the name of an actual alternative provider you intend to use (eg Virgin, BT Vision) and say if they dont sort it then you will go to the other provider. Should work a treat and if it doesnt then go with another provider if you can.

you are not the same person as the other account holder.

its like credit being linked to the house and not the person (so in the past some people could not get credit because of previous tenants).

Quote the Data Protection Act 1998 and that Sky should keep their records up to date etc. you are the new occupant and want their product.

    good luck

just alter your address - ie if you are 21 Smith Street, register as say Room 1 21 Smith Street

for the purposes of their computers it will look like a diferent proeprty albeit at teh same address, such as in blocks of flats

Won't the phone number still be the same though and i thought the sky account would also be linked to the phone number ?

FWIW Im forces and every time we move we have a similar problem. We need an install usually (as we have HD and SK+ in another room - so normally need new cables) and EVERY time we have to fight if a previous tennant has had sky. Always got in resolved though.

It does help that we can say if we cant get it installed we'll have to cancel our subscription though - guess you dont have that option.

    Good Luck
