my father is an avid football supporter and would love sky in his house.

however due to him living in st.ives, cornwall his house is listed and thus he is not allowed to alter the external elements of his house- to preserve the beauty of the area.

this prevents him from having a sky dish.

anyone have any ideas on how he could get sky?

byw: it is a large four storey house with a large attic on fourth floor with a window. is it possible to put sky dish just inside window?? noone can see the attic from the ground as it is v tall

A number of people in Polperro had this problem with those bunch of **** at Caradon Council, they just went ahead with it anyway! I can't see any difference between a dish and a TV aerial. Its time outfits like English Heritage etc realised that people do live and work in these villages, they are not some 18th museum for people to vist!

    couldn't agree with you more.

cornwall is quickly becoming a 'museum' as you put it. a lot of houses in st.ives are now empty all year round until the summer- many people from all over the country are buying houses as second homes and leaving them empty all year round and letting them out in summer.

it is like a ghost town in winter.

take a look at the following some good info

    http://www.planning.odpm.gov.uk/satelite/01.htm

Check with your old man, just because the house is in St Ives doesn’t make it listed! It might well be like my own house part of a conservation area, but that is totally different from having a building listed. Don't believe the council either they'll tell you any old c**p

Couldn't agree more! Polperro is the same, there are so few locals left now ( The welsh had the right idea burn them out! Cornwall has the lowest wages in the Country but some of the highest house prices, if your local you're buggered

This can be used to good effect. As long as you can point it in the right direction of course. 28.2° East
