Recently had a play with some of these in my system, and they are extremely impressive clean powerful controlled sound, even at high levels, in fact makes me want to turn the volume up as they are so impressive.

ATI have also some n core amps and will try those at some stage

Which amplifiers did you listen to - the MP multi-channel series or the mono/stereo series? I keep seeing lots of good user reviews of the Nord amps, but the lack of a nearby demo facility puts me off.
What amps did you compare the Nord to?

Nord one up. Front 3 channels. Yes no demo, bought blind which I do with all my equipment due to wanting to hear see things in my environment. Had lots of power amps over the years- Nad arcam rotel musical fidelity krell- I liked the musical fidelities the best till the Nords came along....
I am keen to try the Ati class d at some point too

You can easily change the opamp on the input buffer board as well to tailor the sound to your taste with the nords

Your first post implies that you didn't keep the amps - can I ask why not?

i own the amps and they are still in my system and will be staying for a while- they continue to impress and I am surprised a power amp can make such a large difference to sound quality-highly recommended.

What configurational did you buy? Is it a single three-channel amp, or three mono blocks, or one stereo and one mono? I'm guessing that the only difference between those configurations would be how many power supplies are in use? And that there would be no real advantage in splitting the configuration, given that they are class d?

    What's the build quality like?

one stereo and one mono block, although you may be able to spec a 3 channel custom order UP variant. each channel in the stereo and the mono block has its own power supply i.e. dual mono in the stereo.
build quality is excellent imo, i was expecting lower standard. i wouldn't bother with the SE japanese casework as the standard casework is better, again imo.
the sound is superb-controlled powerful fast musical and not harsh.

I recently picked up a pair of one up monos with sonic imagery buffers. Been absolutely blown away. Even my mrs was shocked at the difference they made. I’m using them as part of my 2.0 set up.

Very clean and have no intention of moving these on.

I’m not very good with connections but are they compatible with an Arcam amp? They do look good I must say.

What do you mean compatible? If your arcam has pre-outs for a power amplifiers then yes they are.

What Arcam amplifier are you reffering to?

You can get the prices here: Nord Hypex NCore, B&O ICE Power 1200AS NC500 NC400 Amps For Sale There are some configuration options, so you need to select an amp and configure to get the price. Also don't forget that the prices are ex-VAt, so add another 20% (or go through the checkout process) to get the final price.

They would massively, you would get much more headroom and by taking the strain off the frame power supply in the avr, should sound much cleaner and more dynamic, espeially at higher volumes

Have just come across this thread and can confirm that the Nord power amps are excellent and are fantastic value for money. My hobby is building IPL speaker kits and I met Colin a year or so ago when he was also building speakers. I was very impressed with the quality of his amplifiers and have to say that my ambition is to get a dual mono Nord One UP along with a 3 channel Nord One MP NC252. The only problem is that together with a new Arcam AVR390 I would be looking at about £4500 so it might not be happening anytime soon.........

I know what you mean but even if you add the VAT I think they are still fantastic value for money. I think that the reason why prices are quoted without VAT is a throwback to when Colin first started and didn't turn over enough to charge VAT and also he fact that I believe a good proportion of his output is exported.

I've been auditioning integrated amps to add to my AV receiver for two channel music and narrowed things down to a Roskan amp, but recently had an audition for the Musical Fidelity M3si & M6si. This has got me thinking again.

Years ago I had a Rotel pre amp and mono blocs powering the front and centre speaker which was the best configuration, as I could rely on the Rotel for listening to music. I'm not an expert though I've got a Pioneer LX59 AV receiver, would I need a pre amp or would a 2 + 1 power amp added to the AVR to power Fronts & Centre be all I need?
