Futher to another phone call to tom he states the pj when fired up makes a noises like a tv would plus the fans are running so im guessing the power supply boards ok then its somthing simple i hope for him.mike

So this is what I think you have.......

with the GREEN led lit that means you should have a video signal going into the projector.

These I think are the inputs that have been mentioned

And maybe these are the red LEDs you mention

these pictures were "borrowed" from www.curtpalme.com

The FULL Barco analogue info can be found here

and is well worth reading in full

Hi Tom and Jane,

Just been speaking to Mike and said I'd post this link to Curt's troubleshooting
guide, this is the Barco section and its worth reading throughout even if you don't understand alot of it you may pick something up:

http://www.curtpalme.com/Troubleshooting_Tips_Barco1.shtm

The red LED in the cluster you're talking about is usually the "Scan Fail" led and if lit red indicates a possible fault on one of the boards. Yellow leds usually refer to voltages and should normall be lit and indicate good working order for the particular voltage. Green leds can be on or off depending on various circumstances. Red leds normally indicate a fault, however there is usually a row of mini red leds on the controller board - these may flash and pulse but these leds show opperations and don't neccesarily mean faults however analogue sets may not have these.

Note: The tubes don't usually light unless the projector is receiving a signal.

As I say I don't know the analogue machines but I should think that most principles are similar.

We really need to find what the rows of leds actually refer to in your machine - I'll have a look round on the net to see if I can find anything.

Oh seems Andy has beat me too finding the pics. :smashin:

So it seems for a working set red should be out and green should be lit to show a signal being received. Presumably all yellows should be lit.

This seems important (cut & pasted from Curts trouble shooter):

Most importantly however is the 15 pin ‘remote' connector on the back of all of the older analog sets. This remote plug in connects to either a wired remote box that has the brightness, contrast, sharpness, input selection and color and tint controls on it. The other option for this connector is to run a 15 pin wiring harness to an RCVDS 4 Barco video switcher that also has these controls right on the switcher.

The point is, a lot of these projectors are sold surplus without the switchers or plug in remotes. The set will power up but no picture will be displayed without anything connected to this 15 pin port. RCVDS switchers can be found on eBay, but the plug in remotes are hard to find.

The question is then do you have a switcher or remote plugged up? It seems if you don't then the tubes won't come on. See the main picture in this link for the socket highlighted with yellow text:

http://www.curtpalme.com/Barco400_Layout2.shtm

So according to this - without at least a remote control you won't get anything from the set.

Jane and Tom need to check if this is the PJ they have, if so looks like a Switcher is required.

Here are 3 I found

http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=rcvds

the USA ones will be expensive to ship but look cheap to buy.

the UK one you might get a deal price on.....

I DO NOT KNOW IF THESE ARE WHAT YOU NEED, YOU MUST CHECK THIS FOR YOURSELF

Simon, thanks for mentioning this remote/switcher issue.

Your post highlighted it for me, (you got there first :smashin: )

Its great that so many people here help others, thank you all for that.

Andy.

Hi
would it do the same if we got a lead to connect the pj to the computer, because we have downloaded software for this, at the moment we could not afford to buy the remote box as benefits not sorted out yet Jane

I think Gleen will be the one to tell us if a remote is needed or can set up be done via computer if so what leads are needed please ty.mike

Not sure Jane. I'll keep my eye out for the details but I feel the software you're talking about may only be for the digital projectors but I don't know.

We need some analogue super specialists online!

The Barco software will NOT do.

at this point with no budget, or the thought of having to buy kit to make this one work I think we have reached the end of what can be done.......

The ONLY thing might be to ask the previous owner if they happen to have the corded remote or a switcher, you never know.......

IF you are still thinking of getting a CRT PJ then I would suggest you do look into the seleco 350 or above units, these are very easy to set up, user friendly and a great start.

Hi! Chris

What we had from Glen is :
PJ+COAXAL WITH A BNC PLUG ON ONE END,I WONDER IF HE FORGOT TO PUT IT IN

Hi guys,

Just checked the boot of the car and the small controller had fallen off during transit. Jane/Tom if you can PM your address I will ship it to you on Monday. That should help!

Hi!

This missing part of barco anyone any idea where it goes and what it does
jANE:hiya:

Jane/Tom,
The RCDVS unit (Little White Box) plugs into the back of the projector in the 15 pin D Type connector. It has a variety of controls onboard including Brightness, Contrast satuarisation and the type of input/syncronisation to be used.

I hope this helps.
