    Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27HS420

    Hi

I'm going to buy a secondhand crt tv for the bedroom, I found a Sony HDTV ready CRT TV for sale but after doing a search I've realised that it isn't a UK spec TV, US Spec? The seller is using it in this country.

Will I have any problems using it for digital tv and sky tv in this country?

I've had a look in the manual and it doesn't have any scart sockets but it does have component sockets and obviously a hdmi socket.

Sony US website link for this tv

Any help will be much apreciated, thanks.

First thing that springs to mind is parts availabilty if it develops a fault. You could be stuck if that happens.

    Yes, probably not worth it.

The bloke who's selling it on ebay has used a picture of a widescreen tv, after doing another search it points to the fact that it's a 4:3 ratio tv and not widescreen.

No reference in the spec sheet for any ability to reply 576(625)-line, 50hz material (i.e. PAL). Could be rather important......

I would suspect the owner has been using this set as "monitor" for video games , xbox or similar. This set is not designed for use in this country and in fact is fitted with a tuner unit that will not be acceptable for uk transmissions.I`ts also an ntsc video system design although not sure if this is swichable to the pal system required for here.I would give it a miss myself.
