None of them seem to match what I want

    Due to the new projector, I decided that having half my sofa taken up with remotes was getting a bit excessive, and started looking for universal remotes again.

    I looked at every single one reviewed on RemoteCentral, and didn't come up with a single one that had everything I wanted.
    The AV-3000 came the closest, but I really want another 8 hard buttons.
    The Kameleon would be more tempting if I could do my own button layouts.

    My ideal remote would be :
    Hard buttons for the most used functions - but individually programmed or learned.
    Vol +/- Ch +/-.
    10 number keys
    At least 2 'On' buttons (macroed), although I'd like an individual one for each device.
    FF, RW,|<-,->| , ", Play, eject, menu.
    cursor keys (And not dual usage with volume and channel either)

    And a programmable touch screen for everything else.

    Yes, it'd probably be bigger than the usual remote, but I don't mind so long as it's reasonably light.

    I suppose you want the moon on a stick as well?? ;-)

    You are very specific about the hard-buttons which suggests you would be more comfortable with a hard-buttoned remote. For that, I recommend the Home Theater Master MX-500. It has all the hard buttons you specify and LCD screen that can be configured (text only though). It's relatively cheap and pretty versatile. With the addition of the IRClone device (that adds the ability to backup/edit configs via a PC) it's almost unbeatable IF you can live without the graphics frippery of the Pronto.

    (For the record, I own a Pronto and a MX500 for the best of both worlds!)

    Almost, but not quite. The >>| button is the same as the menu button.
    Though maybe I could program the Fav button to be the menu...

    ok, thanks, I'll take a closer look at the MXs.
