Just set up a Pioneer dv340 to a Kenwood AV amp, using digital coaxial.

The picture is great for region 2 discs, but the odd few discs
I have that have no regional coding are only playing in black and white. No yet tried region 1 disc but will have to wait and see.

The sounds quality is fine, just cant get the picture sorted, any ideas please!>?

region 0 discs are usually NTSC formatted, so make sure your TV can handle an NTSC signal, not just a PAL 60hz. It looks as if you DVD player is giving out PAL60, or your TV is capable of this.

Sounds like the tv cannot handle NTSC correctly.

Use the RGB, via scart and you should get colour. This assumes you havent selected RGB and are using the s-video scart or vice versa, which would also give you black and white pictures.
