I have bought a panny 32pl1 this weekend exclusively for use with sky. There will be no dvds on it, no video, no laserdiscs so all im concerned about is the pal sky signal. So how do i set it up? I have Avia but thats pretty uselss given it is dvd and ntsc.... so is there a channel or a time when sky will play me test patterns or is there an alternative method?

    thanks

Use a PAL THX DVD that has Optimode on it (e.g. Evil Dead: Book of the Dead Ltd Ed Reg 2).

I use AVIA as a starting point and then tweak to my liking from there. :)

I set the Sky box to Low Contrast - and then adjust the TV settings.

You can do some geometry alignment using Sky Guide. Try to find a page where most programs start/finish at the same time and you have a griddish pattern to work with.
