Does anyone know how I can get hold of updated software for Nokia phones?

There seems to be a few issues with the current software on the 7210/6610/6100 (version 4.18), primarily involving the display. The clock in "screensaver mode" is extremely faint, and the backlight doesn't switch on when you are called from someone in a caller group. Nokia are aware of the problems and have been talking of an update for sometime from what I can gather from reading around.

Looking about, some people are talking about version 4.72 which solves all of the problems, but no service centres I've spoken to have come across it as of yet. I believe version 4.28 is available, but is it worth getting if this other update is on the way?? Is it possible to obtain version 4.72 and do the upgrade myself??

    Any help greatly appreciated :)

I wouldn't risk updating it yourself. It requires a specialised datacable and is very touch and go when done at home... I have several friends who have destoyed thier phones this way. Nokia only deploy software to Club Nokia centres once their beta testers have verified it as stable... to their eyes at least! Your best bet is to wait if you want that particular version. Having said that 4.28 will have various fixes and since it's free to update you might as well get it.

This reminds me of the nightmare time I had with my 6210... 5 software upgrades and 5 replacement phones and the damn thing still had trouble

I can't resist saying how lovely my S55 is at this point :D ... and of course the fact that Siemens release firmware updates on their website for users to install with a std. datacable :smoke:

Anyway now that's over... hope you get the phone as you'd like it to be ;)

;) How did I guess I'd get a reply from you... :p :rotfl: Hehe!

Only kidding, TBH, it's not something I'm overly fussed about as I don't use caller groups, and I have the screensaver switched off :) That said... little things annoy me, and I'd like it to be perfect :)

Ho Hum... I guess I'll just have to try and be patient... Thanks for the response :)

Do you mean OK by me, or OK to post on the forums?

Alternatively you could always PM, or e-mail me the link?
