Nokia's answer to the iPhone i suppose, not that Nokia have ever released a phone with an MP3 player that even close to good.

Be interesting to see if they have sorted out battery and GPS, but i must admit, i like the look of it - probably looks better than an iPhone IMO.

Been lucky enough to have a hands on of a dummy handset. Its definatly a nicer looking handset and theyve got rid of the poor shutter protector from the back.

The removal of the lens cover is a godsend, the camera quite often activates itself in my pocket just like my k810i did.

Ignoring the colour, 8gb storage, and the marginally larger screen, what differences are there between the 2 models (software / processor i guess)?

Does it still have the ability to accept memory cards (doesn't appear to have a slot on the pictures)?

Any news on when it is due to be launched?

Mostly small changes to the OS

Neither the N95 8Gb or N81 8Gb phones have a card slot. I asked the Nokia product manager for these phones why and apparently it's because the 8gb flash onboard uses the physical space the card slot occupies on the non 8gb models.

AFAIK 1st week of October is expected date for UK retailers to have stock.

Orange are currently doing £100 cash back on purchases, meaning i can get a N95 standard for £100. Would love to wait for the 8gb version but if its just minor os changes this seems fairly pointless.

I'd imagine when the 8Gb N95 launches the networks will be almost giving the standard version away :smashin:

Better to wait if you can

It's a nice looking phone, but I kinda like the shutter idea on the N95 mk1, and the lack of memory card expansion slot is a big negative for me. Yeah I know it has an 8gb hard drive, but I like having the ability to remove my mem card for security reasons or for simply putting into a card reader hooked up to the pc. Also with the firmware flash the size of mem card that the N95 can handle, is getting bigger and bigger. When the N95 came out, it was 2gb max, it's up to 4gb now, as far as I know a 16gb flash is on the cards, dont quote me on that.

I read somewhere that the battery life is a bit better.
If thats the case im glad i waited for the SE K850 and didnt upgrade as soon as i could as i might just have to get the N95 now.

    never happened to me

also, they better incorporate proper USB2.0 speeds into the 8Gb version, otherwise it's gonna take people a helluva long time to transfer stuff to the phone.

Transfer using a usb SD card adapter is so much faster, and the fact that it's totally restricted at 8Gb unlike the upgradeable nature of Memory Cards, makes me feel even better about buying the original version
