Wayfinder and Route 66 are both compatible. TomTom support is due "soon".

Make sure you've got the latest firmware for your N80 though as earlier versions had a Bluetooth bug which prevented the phone working with sat nav software.

The N80 was pulled from Route 66's compatible phone list and is still not showing. I would contact them for ETA on update.

V4 ??? firmware appears to be released for N80, Navicore have added the N80 but only with the the new firmware.
Tomtom have given no release date for S60 V3 release yet.

*#0000# to check firmware version. Contact Nokia service centres for upgrade.

Its bad if you want to run satnav software with a bluetooth receiver as one of the fixes amongst many was to cure the intermittent bluetooth connection problems. If you are waiting for Tomtom then I wouldn't rush out and get it upgraded if you aren't having any other problems.

OK, so I want the upgrade....is this Free??.....available in an o2 shop??

Would this explain the BT keep droping between my PDA & N80 when I'm surfing/collecting email?...& the "randomness" of the ability to use my BT headset in the car??

Hows the best way to get it? :lease:

wait a few weeks and you should be able to do it yourself with the Nokia software updater tool (assuming its one of the products [email protected] means for 1st Sep), see link in the thread on this forum.

I use Navicore 2006, my opinion is it is a good product, personally I prefer it too Tomtom although it is not as 'pretty' from a menu point of view as Tomtom although the maps appear better. The added extras more than make up for it though with speed camera updates and traffic included as part of the software and no subscribing to these services. You will need data enabled as it uses 3G/GPRS for the updates although these are only around 50k at a time and can be set so they are updated manually. If using traffic with dynamic routing then it will attempt to route you around the problem which can lead to some interesting routes but I only ever use satnav as a guide and it performs as well as any at your destination for routing to the address you have input.
You will still need the V4 frimware upgrade for your N80 to use Navicore.

Regarding GPS recivers then I use the Holux GPslim 236, very small and has SIRF III chipset, the receiver once has a signal can be placed in the glovebox where it wil carry on working quite happily.

Ok thanks for that, i think you have just made up my mind

just one last thing, does your Gps receiver run of its own power supply so you can go totaly mobile if you wish? i.e if you were walking in the street or even on a motorbike?

I would suggest having a look at the satnav forum and also pocketgpsworld.com forums, plenty of info. on all of the satnav software available as well as their faults etc.

Yep, the receiver has its own battery. The Holux is quoted at 10 hours continuous on its internal battery.

    From Route 66 Support 16/08/06
    "Dear Sir,

Unfortunately I have to inform you that Nokia N80 is not compatible with our software at the moment.

Nokia N80 has problems with the Bluetooth connection and the memory due to the firmware of the phone. Because of that, Nokia N80 was taken out of the list of compatible phones. We have confirmation from Nokia that this problem is caused by Bluetooth power consumption reduction change which was introduced in the latest firmware. Nokia is working on a fix that will be published shortly."

I guess they mean version 4 of the firmware. Can anyone confirm?

Coutesy of a poster on another forum:

    "Dear Sir,
Thank you for your interest in ROUTE 66 products.
ROUTE 66 Mobile 7 for Symbian s60 V2/3 versions is compatible with Nokia N80
You have to make sure that the software version of your Nokia N80 phone is 4.0623.0.41. Only then you will be able to use Nokia N80 with Mobile 7 S60 V2/3.
    Best regards,
    Carolina JUBIRCA
