Nokia N80 and multimedia limit?

I've just tried to send a picture I've taken to a mate via the magic of multimedia messaging.

When I try to add the image it tells me there's a limit of 100kb. Now the picture in it's original size 1530kb, perhaps that is a bit too big. So I shrunk it down to 640x480 and it still comes out to 146kb which is still too big.

My old 6630 didnt have any problem sending images of any size. Why does the N80? I thought new phones were supposed to improve over the old ones.

Anyone know if there's a setting to increase the file size limit somewhere? I've had a look, but can't see anything.

Strange, my N80 auto shrinks any pics when I choose to send one via mms. Perhaps it's a firmware thing, only had mine a week.

I haven't been able to send a single MMS due to the same reasons since I got the phone a while back.

I gave up.

if you go into the gallery, rotate to the pic you want, then press options - near the bottom there is a shrink option. It makes a copy of the pic and usually add the word small to the filename. The ones ive done were all about 50/60k.


Always worked fine for mms for me. Hope this helps

Tried it last night and it it wouldn't shrink, the progress bar came up but didn't move. But I've just tried tit again and it worked ok today, got the pic down to 60k (640x480) and I was able to send it.

It's a bit rubbish having a limit on the file size now.

Hmm...I find the easiest way is to start a new MMS, then Options>Insert New > Image.

You then take the pic you want to send....but not a lot of use if you want to send a pic thats allready in the gallery....
