The back of the phone would have looked nicer without the CE logo and other gibberish printed on there imo.

It doesn't look like a flagship phone. That will be an issue.

I picked up an S8+ for £550 not long after it came out, this looks about £150 too much for me

looks like cheap Chinese tat. Nothing wrong with a cheap Chinese phone as long its priced to suit, but this isn't.

For Nokia to sell that in quantities, it needs to be down in price by £150 or £200. As is, its too expensive, especially when for around the same price you can get the OnePlus.

Best Nokia ever? Better than my old N8? That was for a long time the best phone I ever owned. It was bloody brilliant.

Has the same chipset as the OnePlus, higher-def screen. Sure, I'd like it to be cheaper, but it's not hugely expensive, compared to other handsets with the Snapdragon 835...

I had the Black 8gb version of the N95...another cracking phone from Nokia back in the day. Funnily enough, the N8 was the last Nokia I ever bought. :(

It's hard to pick a favourite Nokia, I loved the original 3210 for its four line graphic display and an interface that seemed so far ahead of my rubbish Philips C12. The 7110 had the cool snap down slide, incredible batterylife and reception plus a usable version of WAP. Latterly I was very impressed with the Maemo powered N900 which you could root by typing 'root' and you could dig into any of the phones internals as you wanted, its app store was essentially just a front end for the package manager. It felt much further ahead of other mobile operating systems with complex, detailed widgets and multitasking where you could tap a button and it would give you live thumbnail previews of everything that was running (similar to Windows 10) which you could close tasks from.

I had a 925 which I liked the feel of and the camera but not the operating system, I was kind of hoping we'd see an Android version of the 950XL but I guess that part went to Microsoft and now HMD is entirely different but using the Nokia name?

I have been using a Nokia 8 for a few weeks now. It's a well built, elegantly designed, reasonably priced and powerful phone running stock android. The camera doesn't over saturate images and also provides plenty of contrast and detail. The stand out feature is the screen though. I usually get eye strain with smartphones but not at all with this one. The colours are beautifully balanced and vivid without being garish. And of course it's qhd which helps legibility immensely. It also get stupidly bright which is great for outdoor usability. The ringtones are also nicely varied including some more traditional tones which is good if you use the phone for work. In fact, the over riding feeling you get using the Nokia 8 is that it's a phone first and foremost which also has very powerful smart capabilities. Not the other way round. I suppose you could say it's quite conservative. It's bereft of gimmicky features like curved screens and wireless charging. Less is more. To wrap up; I had been waiting for the Pixel 2 but when it was unveiled I was a bit underwhelmed. I didn't feel Google had listened to any of the feedback from the first model. So the Nokia 8 seemed like a great, less expensive alternative! So far it's turned out to be just that.

Many thanks for your thoughts on this phone. Still undecided but this phone is on the top of my list.

The N95 ushered in the new era of one day batteries though...

I had the silver variety. It was a good phone in it's day.

I've owned mine for about 3 weeks now. I've posted a review which is to be approved. I've owned nokia's in the past from 1995 to 2011 when I went to Sony for the sake of Android, when my old Z3 started to play up I decided to go back to Nokia & I'm not disappointed.

Don't know if anyone can help. I've had my 8 now for about a month but can't seem to comment on the avforums app. The comments box just isn't there. I've made sure I'm logged in etc. Thanks andy

I've been running mine since September and I'm generally please with it. No lag, it'll launch everything pretty quickly. I signed up as a Beta tester so I've been getting the updates pretty thick and fast - been running 8.1 since just after Christmas without issue. Hopefully we'll get Android P pretty soon after launch too.
I paid £500 for mine from CPW, on pre-order, which was supposed to come with a Nokia smart watch. I chased up when the watch didn't arrive, CPW claimed the deal was only for contract phones, not SIM-free, luckily I'd screen-shotted the web page which mentioned it was for SIM free, and they refunded me the value of the watch, which was £120. Not bad, considering I was going to sell the watch on anyway, and wouldn't have gotten anywhere near that price for it. So £380 puts it firmly in Honor 9 territory at that time, and I think I got the better phone, considering the screen and the chip. Oh, and a few days after the refund, I got an e-mail to say my watch was on its way! My conscience wouldn't let me keep it though, so I phone and cancelled the delivery.
