    Hi there,

Great forum - love this sort of thing and would love any help!

Device is Sagemcom DTR94 HD freesat receiver and recorder. It's a bit noisy and when I open it up the noise seems to be coming from the hard drive, and the fan to cool it is not running. It's the old spinning disk hard drive. Circa 5 years old so out of warranty etc.

I'm not super bothered about having the recording capacity, so Question 1 would be can I disconnect the drive and keep the box working somehow? If so anyone know how?

Question 2 would be, if no to the above, then can I replace the drive with a solid state hard drive so there is no noise, and again, how (I can always investigate this with seller of the new drive so key question is as to feasibility of the swap)?

    Thanks so much in advance.

    Noel
