Hi All,

I've got a Pioneer 105SZ slot loading dvd drive in my HTPC, and i've flashed it with the v1.33 firmware to use with dvd genie.

After searching this forum for advice on quietening the drive, i downloaded the Pioneer utilities package.

Even after setting the lowest speed setting (Quiet Mode), it's still very noisy and seems to ignore the Pioneer utility settings, and resets itself back to performance mode once you exit the program ??

Any ideas ?? Are these drives just noisy, or can i quieten this drive as it does spoil the effect of using the HTPC for DVD playback, and it drowns out the quiet parts in a film with the noise of the drive !! Also discs that get ejected from the drive after use are VERY hot, so much so it cracked and ruined my EPII disc !! :(

Do i need to re-flash the drive with another firmware version ??

I can turn off my hard drives during dvd playback, but the noise of this drive is like a jet engine and really spoils the film !!

Any ideas ??

Cheers
