    Hi all,

Been playing with my Toshiba HD EP10 for just over a week. Is it me or is the drive a bit noisy? More of a high pitched sound. It seems worse on burnt DVD-R's from my recorder.

    Thanks,

    Damian

Only had mine for a couple of days, but it's very quiet so far.

Unless you are sitting VERY close to the player, I wouldn't expect you to normally notice any drive noise to speak of. It's usually most audible when performing a seek.

Hmmmm....I'm about 6ft away from it. It's sat on a fairly open glass shelfed stand.

Not sure whether to contact Play now.

I have a noisy drive mec on my E1 but not on my EX1, I'd be tempted to send it back straight away, the longer you leave it the less chance of a replacement.

    Thanks.

I've only had it 11 days so have contacted Play and Toshiba. I asked Toshiba about the 1080p/24fps update and there will be one for the EP10 by the end of the year (so that's good). They have said it can be noisy as it shares many components like a PC (?) but to contact there customer services about it and the PCM audio dropouts on CD's played via Optical connection.

Will phone them later and contact Play. May just try for a replacement to be sure.

    Hi all.

Play are picking it up next week and now I've gone for the HD XE1 as I'm really impressed with Toshiba so far. Sounds like this player could replace my Marantz for DVD playback.
