Noisy box

when i came home from work today at 5pm my hd box was making quite a loud noise, which i think was coming from the fan. i had the box in standby and when i turned it on it was working fine. i unpluged it from the socket and when it came back on the noise had gone. does anyone know why it was making such a loud noise, or has anyone else had this.

Mine did that the other day, sounded like the fan was going hell for leather. Switched it off at the mains and when i switched it on again it was fine, hasn't done it since.

Bizarre!
