    Still tweaking.....
When doing brightness/contrast adjustments through the DVE disc if I get up really close to the screen, I can see 'noise' in some of the bars of the grey. Changing the contrast/brightness settings moves the noise around. I can't seem to get it to disappear completely though.

I suspect - professional callibration is the solution, but I can't afford that so just some general comments on this would do for now.

    Is this normal?
When sitting at normal viewing distance it isn't really noticeable unless a large area of the screen hits that particularly shade of grey, then the noise is apparent (to me).

    thanks

    Hi,

What you're describing sounds like "dithering".

Most, if not all, plasma screens suffer from this artifact. Professional calibration may reduce dithering, but I don't think it can be completely removed.

    Cheers.

I have it to on my PW7. Didn´t see it at first. Like you i had to go up really close. Seen it on DVE and the THX logo. Looks like ants crawling around ;)
Got the HDMI card and the noise just exploded. Did alot of tweaking in DVE before i got happy. Now it looks great but i do see it sometimes. My own fault because i look for it when nobody else can see it if i don´t point it out
