no surround?

    i have my sat (sony 760) plugged into my receiver (sony 475) via an optical cable, but whenever i am watching satellite i onyl ever get sound through the front and centre speakers - i have tried changing settings on the receiver but cannot get sound from the back speakers - i know only sky+ do DD but i should be able to get sound through all 5 speakers shouldnt i?

    It depends on your settings (you checked you have not set the rears to "none"? What about output levels?). And, if the signal is not 5.1 but 2.0, you must set your amp to PL I or II in order to get something on the back, I think, or to some dsp mode of the amp that sends something to the rears. I don't know if it is possible with a digital input, I think it should be. Try it, don't know if it helps
