I have a fault of multiple red lines across the screen of a Philips back projection set. Philips say that as the model is not on the system the cannot advise me.

The model number is 48UP91 0503. It was made in the USA, bought at Comet 4 1/2 years ago and has 3 scarts and a multistandard tuner.

Has anyone heard of this set or advise me who might know more of the story on this set?

Perhaps Comet themselves imported it! More likely a set that sold in so few numbers that no one bothered to put it on Philips computers. Its obviously euro spec if it has 3 scarts. Sounds like Philips are at fault.

Does anyone know if a gun is expensive to repair on a back projection unit?

Yeah....Philips said they could give me one if I gave them £125 as a minimum call out charge. The set is just too big to get to the a repair shop.

Philips had me go through a few telephone numbers, all of said they could not help.

My friend, who owns it, is partly sighted and uses the big screen to be able to read the teletext. Never mind, the next set will be flat screen and a lot, lot lighter.

    Thanks for your advice anyway.

Find a nice local reputable TV shop and get a quote from them,it shouldn't cost anything.
